COOSSA
Condominium Organization of South Sierra Avenue
Solana Beach, California
What We Support
COOSSA supports, or has supported, the following:
The Coastal Rail Trail
Fletcher Cove Park
Proposed developments including Cedros Crossing (at the train station), and the Pearl Property (across from the Post Office)
Highway 101 "Downtown Solana Beach" Improvement
Opposition to reverse-angle parking (click here for COOSSA position statement)
We also support in general:
The freedom of homeowners to install retaining walls on their property, to protect their property, specifically seawalls, which the homeowners pay for and which protect beachgoers. We believe, as the science supports, that bluffs are a very small contribution to sand on beaches. Sand for beaches comes from rivers, which have been dammed up or blocked.
Sand replenishment, such as all other urban beaches in the world, for the enjoyment of all citizens and visitors.
A nice commercial-to-residential transition on South Sierra Avenue, as it exists today, including current set-backs, landscaping, low-profile retail entrances, and no retail business on the avenue.
